Handy keys

On/Off and OK/Cancel

Firstly, note that the On/Off button is really On/Standby. The device is only really 'off' if the battery is removed or dead.

With the device closed or in tablet mode the OK and Cancel buttons on the back of the device are identical in function to the OK and Cancel keys on the keyboard, and the jogger dial below them can be used instead of the up and down cursor keys.

Function, Control and Space bar

Hold down the Function (Fn) key while pressing another key to obtain the character or effect marked in blue above that key, eg Fn and J produces *; Fn and Tab toggles Caps Lock.

In addition, Function and up/down arrow is Page up/down; Function and left/right arrow is Home/End.

The Control key is used to obtain special symbols and accented characters: for example, holding down the Control key while pressing Q enters £. See “Entering special characters” for a full list of these characters.

Pressing Space bar is equivalent to tapping on the control which currently has focus.

Application shortcut keys

By default, each of the five round buttons at the front of the keyboard provides a shortcut to the application or item indicated above it. However, you can reassign any of these keys by selecting Application Key from the Settings tab of the Home page.

Pressing the Home key once will bring you back to the Home page (unless you've reassigned it!). Repeated pressing of the Home key will then cycle through the tabs on that page.

Shift and Home cycles through open applications.

Shift and Menu displays the list of open applications. Continue to hold Shift down while pressing Menu to cycle through the list.
