There is essentially no support for Bluetooth on a standard Zaurus, but we have developed an application, BlueFig, to make it easy to use Bluetooth and a GPRS/3G enabled phone to get online.
If you haven't used BlueFig before then see “First time you use BlueFig”. If you've already set-up BlueFig with your phone all you need to do is tap on the
icon in the status bar, select your phone and tap on the button. During the connection process the BlueFig icon is half-green, half-grey (
) and then when connected it is green (
).
There are a few basic steps that you need to go through the first time you use BlueFig, these are:
Find and identify your phone
Pair the Zaurus and phone
Make sure the phone and network settings are correct
Connect to the Internet
BlueFig automatically takes you through these steps which are described in more detail below.
Insert the Bluetooth card into the CompactFlash slot, tap on the
icon in the status bar and then tap on button. Your phone and other phones in the area should appear in the dialog as shown in the screen-shot below.

If your phone is not visible in the list check that Bluetooth is turned on and your phone is 'visible' or 'discoverable' (different phone manufacturers use different terms, but they mean the same thing).
Once you've found your phone select it and then tap on the button. The dialog below should appear, just tap on the OK button.

After a few moments you will be requested to pair your phone and Zaurus. A dialog will appear on your phone asking you to enter a number. You can enter any number, but we recommend you enter four or more random digits. Once you've completed this, a dialog like the one below will appear on the Zaurus - enter the same numbers you entered on your phone.
For the purposes of the Zaurus connecting to your phone there is no longer any need to have the phone 'visible' or 'discoverable' so you may wish to turn this off on your phone to make the system more secure.

Once pairing is completed BlueFig will attempt to identify your phone. Once it's gone through this process a dialog like the one below will be displayed. Make sure that the manufacturer and range/model are correct and then select your Home Country and Home Network. It is critical that these setting are correct.

If your phone manufacturer is not in the list then select Nokia. Also please let us know so that we can update BlueFig.
BlueFig will start to try and connect, it is likely that your phone will prompt you, asking if you wish to accept the connection from the Zaurus - accept the connection request.

You should be able to set-up the pairing between Zaurus and phone so that you're not prompted everytime you connect - check your phone manual as to how to do this. |
Whilst it is trying to connect the BlueFig application should look like the screen-shot below.

The BlueFig icon on the status bar should be half green, half grey

When the Zaurus is connected BlueFig should be like the screen-shot below and the BlueFig icon on the status bar should be all green
. To remove the BlueFig dialog just tap on the
icon.
